The mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez Osuna, has ended his year of presidency of the Group with a balance "that has meant an extraordinary journey" and has highlighted "the promotion of the Group in the United States; the creation of new promotional material such as films, tourist maps or the gastro-tourism guidebook, in addition to the granting of 45 million euros to the 15 cities to promote World Heritage sites ”.
The city of Salamanca presides over the World Heritage Cities Group in 2022, with an intense agenda of national and international tourism promotion. The president of the Group from 2022, Carlos García Carbayo, affirms that he faces "with enthusiasm and responsibility the challenge of expanding the tourist and heritage offer, with a new stimulus on cultural, gastronomic and sport events"
Cuenca has hosted the Assembly of Mayors of the Group, on the occasion of the celebration of its 25th anniversary of its declaration as UNESCO World Heritage. The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has participated in the unveiling of the commemorative plaque of the anniversary.
